Q.

Does a high Feedback Rating mean that an eBay member has a great reputation?
A. Not necessarily. In most cases, a high Feedback Rating is good news, but you should always check a member's Feedback Profile for any negative remarks. It's best not to judge a user on his or her Feedback Rating alone.

Q.

What type of feedback should I leave—positive or negative?
A. If you were treated well by a buyer or seller, reward him or her with a positive comment. If you were treated poorly, try to resolve the problem first by contacting the other person. Most problems can be corrected by improving communication between buyer and seller. If things are still not resolved, you may leave a negative comment.

Q.

When should I leave feedback?
A. After completing any transactions on eBay. Your honest feedback shapes the eBay community and specifically impacts the success and behavior of other eBay members. Make your voice heard!

We strongly encourage you to always leave comments about a specific buy or sell transaction within 90 days after the end of the auction. eBay guarantees that all items will be available on our system for at least that period. After 90 days, you can still try to send in feedback, but items may be removed from our database without prior notice. If that happens, you will not be able to leave feedback.

Q.

Can any bidder leave feedback about a specific auction or just the winning bidder?
A. Only the seller and successful bidder (one for a regular auction, several for a Dutch Auction) can leave transaction-related feedback about a specific buy or sell transaction.

Q.

Can I leave feedback for transactions completed outside of eBay?
A. No. Buy or sell feedback on eBay is only available to the highest bidder and seller of auctions completed on eBay. In the case of Reserve Price Auctions, the highest bid also must be above the reserve price.

Q.

Can I retract the feedback I left for someone?
A. No. It's a good idea to be thoughtful of what you say when it comes to leaving feedback.

Q.

Can I leave feedback on a trade if the reserve was not met?
A. No. In this instance, you can leave buy or sell feedback only if there is a successful bid above the reserve.

Q.

Someone who left me feedback is "not a registered user." What does this mean?
A. Sometimes eBay changes a registered user's status to not a registered user. When this occurs, there are no changes to your Feedback Rating and all feedback comments left by that user remain unchanged. The only change is that the member is designated as "not a registered user" on your Feedback Profile.

Q.

How do I know I have the correct item number when I leave feedback related to a transaction?
A. eBay will verify that item numbers match buyers and sellers.

Q.

Why can I not view the item number from the Feedback Forum for transactions which involve users from other countries?
A. Due to European privacy and legal issues, eBay will not link to the item transactions from the Feedback Forum (member scorecard) for item transactions on eBay Germany, eBay France, or eBay Italy, or involve a buyer or seller who is registered from any of those countries.
